CUSTOM LABEL MAKER
============================================================
Version 3.0
The program CUSTOM LABEL MAKER was written to help make
fancy labels for disks, books, return address, and other
label needs. It can provide the professional touch to your
disk collection and correspondence. CLM will print the label
on the screen up to 100 times, allowing you to print many of
the same or similar labels.
The following is a brief explanation of some of the
features. All commands are displayed on the screen.
EDITING - You may edit the label on the screen, moving
from line to line until satisfied. All the editing commands
are listed on the screen.
CENTERING - By positioning the cursor at the far left of
a line you can use [INS] or [DEL] to center the line. Use
[SHIFT][TAB] to position th cursor to the far left of the
line.If it will not move further to the right but there is
space there, delete the extra spaces at the end of the line.
PRINTING - Pressing [ALT][p] will print the label on the
screen. If you get a beep with this action, the printer is
not ready. Press [ALT][n] then [+] or [-] to change the
number of labels to be printed.
DIRECTORY - To view the directory of the disk in the
current drive press [ALT][d]. If you are using a hard disk,
set the current drive at the DOS prompt to A:, and call CLM
from the A> prompt (ex. C:\CLM ). Then you can view the
directory of disks placed in drive A:.
LOAD/SAVE LABEL - You may save the label on the screen by
pressing [ALT][s]. The name can be any eight characters
allowed by DOS. The .LBL extension is automatically added.
To use a previously saved label, just press [ALT][l] to
load it. CLM remembers what kind of label it was and places
it into the right screen. Saving the same label name will
replace another with the same name. Check the disk directory
when in doubt.
CHANGING LABEL KIND - There are four kinds of labels in CLM:
DISK - suitable for on the top of disks.
ADDRESS - Address labels up to 5 lines.
BOOK - for the bindings of books, notebooks.
LIBRARY - for 'From the Library of' labels.
To access the different kinds of labels, press [ALT][f] to
flip through them. When you leave one kind of label, the
information you typed in will be lost unless you save it to
disk. There are sample labels on the disk for each kind of
label. Try them to see how LOAD works and for ideas on how
to use the different kinds of labels. The disk sample (DISK-
SAM.LBL) contains a disk label for CLM.
CLM version 3.0 is not in the public domain. If you find
it useful a donation of $10 will encourage me to continue to
make improvements, fix bugs and write other programs. CLM
works great on the Star NX-10 and should work properly on
Epson and IBM compatible printers. Should you like to change
some of the printer codes or add some special features, you
can obtain the Turbo Pascal source code for a donation of
$30. If enough express interest I will make a Quick Basic
version of the source code available also.
Thanks to all those who have supported earlier versions
with donations and suggestions. I think we have all
benefited with a better program.
